The game has five reels and three rows. There are 25 pay lines. The minimum bet is .02 credits, and the maximum is 100 credits. Choose your preferences for the number of pay lines you'd like to play – although the max is always best to ensure you don't miss out on a potential win, and with the minimum bet you can play the whole board for as little as .50 coins. You can also determine how much you want each coin to be worth.
Icons include Tigers, Shields, Spears, Gladiator Helmets, Roman Sandals (not candles!), Coin Bags, Grapes, a beautiful Lady, and the Emperor himself. The graphics are wonderful, especially the animations when there's a win on the reels. But we feel like NextGen really missed out on an opportunity to use heralding trumpets and the like to add to the ambiance of the game. It's simply slot sounds.
The Emperor is wild, and will appear on reels two three and four. He can substitute for any other icon you need for a win. The shield is your scatter icon. Get three of them and you'll be given ten free spins. All wins pay out twice as much as usual during the free spin round. In addition, if the Emperor appears during free spins mode he'll either give you a thumbs up or thumbs down the reaction. Thumbs up triggers an additional three free spins.
