We're tempted to say that Cosmic Cat is a retro-themed game, given that its design is similar to that of a one-armed bandit that you'd see in the wild. There is the small reel grid, the on-screen pay table, and the large game logo that are the hallmarks of this genre. It's simple, classic, and lots of fun for a certain kind of player.
But it's also retro in another way: the green-on-black writing in some parts, and the old-school computer font in other parts, lead us to call it a retro game when it comes to computer graphics, too! Even if you're not old enough to remember when computer screens had these features, it's still a funky vibe that is pure, simple enjoyment.
Microgaming has designed the Cosmic Cat slot to have three reels and one pay line SO in that way, it looks just like an old slot machine from Las Vegas. Icons include single, double and triple bars, plus a space cat. The space cat is wild and can substitute for any icon you need to make a win.
The game's player dashboard is similarly minimalist, stripped down to only what you need – the number of credits you have, options for bet lines, a Maximum Bet button for one-touch spinning, and the regular Spin button. If you can't figure this out, then maybe slots are not your forte.
There are no scatters, mini games or free spins. No cut scenes or plot lines. No convoluted characters to keep track of. This is a straight-up, old-school, one-armed-bandit experience. It might not be to every player's taste, but if you're tired of all the hullabaloo of high-end games, then Cosmic Cat is exactly what you need.
