When people think of gambling with cards, they think of poker. It's a timeless classic that punters return to again and again. But online poker can be confusing to a lot of players, especially newcomers. There are so many kinds of poker. There is live streaming poker from swanky European casinos. And with all that choice and all that pressure, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle, so to speak.
That's why Cyberstud Poker, from Microgaming, is so great. It gives you the best of both worlds – a highly realistic betting environment, but with none of the speed or pressure of many other online poker games. If you're looking to simply practice poker, or try out new strategies without breaking the bank, this is the game you're looking for.
In this iteration of poker, you are playing directly against the house. Because it is not live, there are no other players involved. It's just the dealer and you putting your best strategies to the test. The minimum bet is two credits. The maximum is 100 credits per hand.
The player starts off the game by placing an ante bet. At that point, he or she is dealt five cards face up and the dealer is dealt one card face up.
The player must either fold or place a call bet equal to double his or her ante. The dealer is then dealt his other four cards. In general whoever has the best hand wins. The only exception is that the dealer must have at least an ace and king high to be eligible to win.
The only drawback to this game, at least in terms of what some players prefer, is that you can only play one hand at a time. But it's frustrating because there are clearly marked spaces for more hands! On the other hand (no pun intended), we do recommend newcomers to online poker to try out Cyberstud Poker, as one hand at a time allows you to concentrate on the best strategies for more intensive gameplay.
