The game begins with a board with 50 squares in it. Ten of those squares have diamonds underneath. The other forty are just empty boxes. The player is given four lives to start.

Scratch a box. If it's empty, you'll lose one of your lives, giving you only three more chances to go. If it has a diamond, it's a small win. With an empty box you can keep playing with three lives, but reveal another empty box and you'll be down to two lives. But if a diamond is revealed, you'll win and have four lives again!

The tricky part is when there is a diamond under the box. Do you cash out with your winnings, or do you try to find another diamond? If you keep going and reveal a second diamond, there will be a bigger win. But if an empty box means not only losing one of your lives – you'll also lose what you've already won.

The game ends in one of three ways. The first is when the player runs out of lives. The second is when you decide you've won enough and walk away. And the third is when you scratch all 10 diamonds in a row and win the big jackpot!
